DCI Symposium day 2024

Tuesday 3 September 2024 @ GENOPODE building, UNIL Dorigny campus

The DCI symposium 2024 will take place the 3rd September 2024 in DCI-Lausanne! We will hear Dr Yaser Hashem and Dr Petr Chlanda talking about their cryo-EM research. 2 sessions are dedicated to junior researchers using the DCI of Bern, Geneva and Lausanne!

From 17h30 onwards, we will have a special event with the possibility to visit the DCI Lausanne. It will also be the vernissage of a photography exhibition generously sponsored by a donator on the theme of “electron microscopy”. This second event requires a separate registration.

For the time being, there is no open registration and only invited guests can attend.

The DCI Symposium 2024 will take place on September 3rd, 2024 at DCI-Lausanne! The day will feature presentations by Dr. Yaser Hashem and Dr. Petr Chlanda on their cryo-EM research.

Two sessions are dedicated to junior researchers using the DCI facilities in Bern, Geneva, and Lausanne.

Following the symposium, there will be official speeches by DCI partners and a reception to celebrate the inauguration of the the new DCI Lausanne building and the opening of a photography exhibition by 5 regional photographers.

6:15 PM – Discovering an Unusual Photographic Project
Five photographers, five perspectives, to depict the transformation of the DCI. Thomas Brasey, Delphine Burtin, Olga Cafiero, Matthieu Gafsou, and Etienne Malapert were invited to artistically capture this center of knowledge and fundamental data production. The surprising results will be explained by Prof. Nicolas Fasel, Honorary Professor of Biochemistry at UNIL.

6:20 PM – Exclusive Tour of the DCI Lausanne Laboratories (optional)
Explore the main stages of the cryo-microscopy process. Accompanied by laboratory researchers, you will discover the world of the infinitesimally small, from sample preparation to their 3D representation.

An aperitif will be offered to all participants to discover the opening of the photographic exhibition starting at 6:30 PM.
